For Alyssa, living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) made dating feel daunting. Then she met Jason, and everything changed. Jason saw Alyssa as the whole vibrant person she is, and they quickly realized how much they had in common: a love of music, an interest in video games, and a strong sense of humor. Over three years later, the two are building a life together with Jason as Alyssa’s partner and full-time caregiver. 

Today, Jason helps with Alyssa’s power soccer team, and Alyssa supports Jason’s new passion for cooking. Together, they go to patient conferences and events to meet other SMA community members.
