Biogen MA Inc. (“Biogen” or “we” or “us”) uses the Workday, Inc., 6110 Stoneridge Mall Road, Pleasanton, CA 94588, USA (“Workday”) SaaS platform (the “platform”) to manage and administer its talent acquisition, sourcing and recruitment process. We adopt this Privacy Notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) and provide notice to residents of California who are job applicants or interact with us in connection with our talent acquisition and recruitment process. This Privacy Notice describes what personal information we collect about you in relation to the platform, how we use it and why, as well as your rights in relation to this collection and use.
The disclosures in this Privacy Notice cover our activities in the past twelve (12) months and our current practices, unless otherwise noted.
Biogen uses the platform to manage and administer our talent acquisition and recruitment process. In particular, we use the platform to: (a) advertise Biogen job vacancies and process any applications in relation to those vacancies; (b) assess the suitability of a job applicant; (c) allow individuals to make job referrals; and (d) keep a record of talented individuals that we would like to contact about job vacancies Biogen may have in the future.
Once you have submitted a job application or are referred for a job using the platform, your personal data is shared with Biogen within the platform in order to manage the application process. You can also apply for a job at Biogen by logging into your LinkedIn or Indeed account. If you apply for a job using this method, LinkedIn or Indeed will send limited personal data to the platform and you will be able to view or administer your profile within the platform using those sites’ login details.
We may collect, use and disclose the following categories of personal information if you decide to apply for a Biogen job and/or in connection with our talent acquisition and recruitment process:

As a global company, we also share your personal information among Biogen group companies during the talent acquisition and recruitment process.
We disclose your Sensitive Personal Information for limited purposes and when necessary to provide services or perform activities related to our recruiting and job application purposes.
We do not “sell” personal information that we collect about you in the job application and recruitment process nor do we “share” any such personal information, as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
We obtain the personal information from the following sources:
- Directly from you.
- Vendors that support our job application processes.
- Third parties such as recruiters, job references or educational institutions.
- Directly and indirectly from activity on our websites.
Biogen retains your personal information for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it has been collected, and in accordance with any specific retention periods required by law and/or our record retention processes and policies.
Individuals who reside in California have specific rights regarding their personal information. This section describes those rights and explains how to exercise those rights.
Request to Know or Access
You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information. We will disclose to you:

- the categories of sources for the personal information we have collected about you;
- our business or commercial purpose for collecting or disclosing personal information about you;

Right to Non-Discrimination
You have a right not to be subject to discriminatory treatment for the exercise of your privacy rights under CCPA.

To exercise the rights described above, please submit a request to us at our online Data Subject Request portal or you can contact us toll-free at +1(844) 430-1179. Please note that these rights and your requests to exercise these rights may be subject to exceptions and/or limited by applicable laws in certain cases. We are also not required to provide information for request to know to a person beyond the 12 month period preceding the request or more than twice in any 12 month period.
When you submit a request to us, you will be asked to affirm your state of residency and to indicate whether the request is on your behalf or for someone else. If you make a request related to Personal Information about you, we will need to verify your identity. For instance, we may request that you match specific pieces of information you have provided us, or provide a signed declaration that you are the individual whose personal information is the subject of the request. For requests related to particularly sensitive information, we may require additional proof of identification. If you make a request through an authorized agent, we will require written proof that the agent is authorized to act on your behalf. We will use any information that we request to verify your identity only for these purposes.
We will process your request within the time provided by applicable law. If we are not able to comply with your request, you will be provided with the reasons for such decisions. You may be entitled to appeal our decisions and can do so by following the instructions provided in the correspondence we send to you communicating our decision. You may also be entitled to lodge a complaint with data protection authorities or regulators.
